Ruins / 2011
Jim Colquhoun and I collaborated on a performance piece with duration of 30 mins. The floor was covered with white neon fragments of a deconstructed sign (originally intended for a casino) We were both stripped to the waist and each had a small device that detects the electromagnetic field that emanates from a neon tube and converts it to audible sound. We also used a BC9R analogue synthesiser. We both moved extremely slowly over the tubes creating an intense varying sound, we were both acting as styli, trying to make sense of a foreign terrain.
